Bella TV covered the carpet at the New York Tribeca Film Festival premiere of The Gospel According to AndréThe documentary chronicles the life and career of Andre’ Leon Talley, a former Vogue Magazine Editor-at-Large and one of the fashion industry’s most influential icons. Designer Norma Kamali, Emil Wilbekin, Elsa Klensch and other Fashionistas walked the red carpet. Sandra Bernhard moderated the Q&A with André Leon Talley with director Kate Novack, producer Andrew Rossi, producer Josh Braun executive producer Roger Ross Williams.

André Leon Tally has been a staple in the world of fashion, sharing his keen eye for style art and fashion history. Kate Novack’s documentary, The Gospel According to André takes viewers on a poignant journey from André’s roots growing up in the segregated Jim Crow South to become one of the most influential tastemakers and fashion curators of our times.

 

Novack’s film shares connections between the elegance of André’s grandmother and the Black Church of his youth and his later iconic, barrier-breaking work at publications like Women’s Wear Daily, W and Vogue. The fashion documentary shares archival footage from the most glamorous moments in fashion history with André’s poignant reflections on his life and career. The Gospel According to André is a cinematic tribute to one of the most unique figures of 20th Century American culture.
