NYWICI hosted their annual Matrix Awards, honoring “Women Who Connect the World.”
Nearly 1,000 people gathered at the Sheraton New York Times Square for the annual Matrix Awards. This year’s slate of honorees celebrated ten extraordinary female leaders in the communications industry as “Women Who Connect the World.” The Matrix Award recipients are selected for their achievements and outstanding leadership roles in their fields. The award honors women in communications who are at the pinnacle of their careers and have made a profound impact. It is considered the most prestigious communications award.

The awards were emceed by Savannah Guthrie of NBC’s TODAYand hosted by Interpublic Group. Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry continues to break down barriers with a multitude of acclaimed, diverse roles and consistent growth and success. Halle Berry shared a glimpse of her assurance with the audience, “Walk right into the fear. Follow your intuition. It’s your guide. Your compass. Don’t opt-out of someone else’s fear for you. Listen to your gut and go do it.”

This year, NYWICI also presented its inaugural Incite Award, which was presented to the three Pulitzer Prize-winning, New York Times reporters, Jodi Kantor, Emily Steel and Megan Twohey for their ability to incite change through writing and reporting for their coverage on sexual misconduct in the workplace.
